There have been several reported occurrences of theft in the area recently. Some communities have reported car, mail, package and even catalytic converter theft. Thieves are also after a variety of personal things including COVID relief checks, credit card information, bank statements, and other personal items or information. Some of this theft is occurring in broad daylight when people leave their garage doors open and have tools, bikes or items from their cars stolen.

If you experience a theft, please call the Westminster Police at (714) 548-3219 or (714) 898-3315 and make an official report. The police are doing their best to prevent theft but it is also up to all homeowners to be diligent to discourage it. Please follow the steps below to deter against theft:

1) Double check that your cars are locked each night before going to bed
2) Pick up your mail daily
3) Start or join a neighborhood watch program
4) Install front door and above garage cameras
5) Close all garage doors when not working in your garage
6) Go paperless for credit card and bank statements
7) Install an in-home alarm system
8) Sign up with your local Post Office and UPS for package delivery notifications
